Inside Edwina & Andrew Hallaran's Wedding
Edwina and Andrew’s wedding was the kind of day where their personality was visible in every single detail. From the bursts of bright colours, to a cookie-tower from their favourite baker, every moment of Edwina and Andrew’s day told you exactly who they are.
However, when you ask Edwina what about the moments from her wedding day that she holds close, the answer is not the styling or the details or even the dress. It is the people in the room...The ones who were there, and the ones she found a way to keep close.
We are honoured to have had the chance to speak with Edwina on the details that made their day feel distinctly theirs, the moments she will carry forever, and her advice for future brides.

Which small details had the biggest impact?
For us, it was all the little details that made the day feel like our own. Styling was a huge part of that. We wanted injections of colour and for everything to feel abundant, considered and reflective of us. From the stationery to the food and drink details, there were so many special touches that brought the whole day together.
I’m a big accessories and fashion girl and find so much joy in putting beautiful pieces together and creating a look that makes me feel special. I actually went from thinking I would stay in the same wedding dress all day to somehow ending up with three outfit changes! Each one brought out a different part of my personality and added another element of fun to the day.
I was also incredibly lucky that my beautiful sister made my final dress. She is so clever and creative and had this gorgeous piece of fabric at home that she had purchased overseas a few years earlier. It ended up being the perfect addition to the night… full of sparkle, fun and personality. It brought out another side of me and knowing it was made by my sister with her own creative flair made it even more meaningful.
We also loved putting our own spin on traditions. Instead of going for a classic wedding cake, we had our favourite cookies (Butter Boy!) made into a cookie tower. I think it was all of those personal choices, big and small, that made the day feel so distinctly us.

Was there a little moment you can’t stop thinking about?
There are so many little moments. I do think it’s the little moments that can be so powerful and special. A smile, a look, a meaningful touch or moment in time.
The speeches are something I keep coming back to. The words of Andrew and my sister were incredibly special. Andrew has always known that marrying me was somewhat of a package deal with my sister! We are incredibly close and I feel so blessed to have found someone who not only understands that, but completely embraces it. Being there with the two of them, two of the most important people in my life, meant everything to me.
Family is everything to us and not having our parents physically there brought another layer of emotion to the day. We had photos and videos of Andrew’s and my parents playing on the screens throughout the reception. I would find myself looking up at the screens and seeing my mother and father’s faces and those moments really touched my heart. It was such a meaningful way of keeping them close and making them part of the celebration, even from up above.
I think losing people you love makes you cherish those around you even more. There were so many moments throughout the day where I would simply look around, take it all in and feel incredibly grateful for Andrew, my sister and everyone who was there in the one place, at the one time, sharing it with us.

One piece of advice for future brides?
Do what feels right for you as a couple and make the day your own. You don’t have to do something simply because it’s traditionally part of a wedding. Some of our favourite details were the things that were uniquely us.
As cliché as it sounds, be present and take it all in. Appreciate the little things, go with the flow and trust the process. There are so many emotions and so much happening around you, but try to stop every now and then and really take in where you are and who is there with you.
Cherish the memories you’re creating, not only with your partner but with everyone sharing the day with you. They become the stories and moments you’ll continue to talk about together for years and years to come. Most of all, cherish your loved ones and hold them that little bit closer.
At the end of the day, sharing it with the people you love is what makes it so special.
